General Questions

Am I a good candidate for anti wrinkle injections?

Determining your suitability for anti-wrinkle injections depends on various factors, such as your medical history, overall health, and aesthetic goals.

Typically, individuals who are in good health, not pregnant or nursing, have realistic expectations, are concerned about dynamic wrinkles caused by facial expressions, prefer a non-surgical approach to wrinkle reduction, and are willing to undergo maintenance treatments to sustain the results are good candidates for anti-wrinkle injections.

It’s essential to understand that the effectiveness of anti-wrinkle injections is primarily in reducing dynamic wrinkles caused by facial muscle movements. The improvement in the appearance of static wrinkles at rest can be uncertain and may not improve.

What are the contraindications to having anti wrinkle injections?

Individuals who have allergies to the ingredients in the anti-wrinkle injections, an ongoing skin infection, or have recently experienced a viral or bacterial infection may not be suitable for this treatment. Wrinkle relaxers may also not be an appropriate option for those who have Myasthenia Gravis or Eaton Lambert Syndrome. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are not recommended to undergo cosmetic injectables. It is advised to inform your medical practitioner if you have received a COVID-19 vaccination within the last two weeks.

What are the risks and complications:

Anti-wrinkle injections may cause temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site, as well as headaches or flu-like symptoms. There is a possibility of drooping or asymmetry of the eyebrows or eyelids, as well as excessive eyelid drooping (ptosis). Allergic reactions or infections can occur, and asymmetry, double or blurred vision, and dry eyes are also potential side effects. In rare cases, difficulty swallowing, breathing, or speaking can occur, and the toxin may spread to other areas, resulting in muscle weakness or paralysis. Although uncommon, an allergic reaction to anti-wrinkle injections is possible. Additionally, in some instances, the treatment’s effects may diminish rapidly or not work at all.

How do I prepare for anti-wrinkle injections?

Before the treatment, it is advisable to avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements such as aspirin, ibuprofen and fish oil for at least a week, as they increase the risk of bruising. To reduce the risk of bruising, refrain from consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours before the procedure. It is critical to inform your medical practitioner of any medications or supplements you are taking, as some may increase the risk of complications. For 24 hours before the treatment, avoid strenuous exercise and activities that increase blood flow or body temperature. It is also recommended to refrain from using any skincare products containing retinol or glycolic acid for at least five days prior to the treatment.

How many units will I need?

The number of units of anti-wrinkle injections required varies depending on the individual’s needs, treatment area, and severity of lines. It is recommended to consult with one of our medical practitioners who can help evaluate your condition and determine the appropriate dose for you.

“But how come my friend's treatment was cheaper than mine”?

Each individual’s facial anatomy, muscle strength, and desired aesthetic outcomes are unique, and thus the appropriate dosage will vary. Comparing doses with friends is not advisable since what works for one person may not work for another. Additionally, factors such as age, gender, and medical history can play a role in determining the appropriate dosage for an individual. Therefore, it is crucial to consult with our team of qualified medical practitioners who can assess your individual needs and recommend the appropriate dosage.

Will getting anti-wrinkle injections make me look weird or frozen?

Anti-wrinkle injections are designed to relax the targeted muscles and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, but they should not make you look frozen. The goal of the treatment is to achieve a natural-looking result that allows for normal facial expressions and movements. The amount of product used and the injection technique can be adjusted to achieve the desired level of muscle relaxation while maintaining a natural appearance.

When should I start getting anti wrinkle injections?

The ideal time to start getting anti-wrinkle treatments varies depending on the individual. In general, it is recommended to start considering treatment in your late 20s to early 30s, as this is when fine lines and wrinkles may begin to appear due to repeated facial expressions. However, the decision to start treatment should be based on your individual needs and goals, as well as the advice of a qualified healthcare professional. It is important to note that anti-wrinkle treatments are a temporary solution and require maintenance to maintain the desired results.

Are the results from anti wrinkle treatments permanent?

No, the results of anti-wrinkle injections are not permanent. Anti-wrinkle injections, which are typically made up of botulinum toxin type A, work by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles and lines. This relaxation can last anywhere from 3-4 months, depending on the individual and the specific treatment.

After the effects of the anti-wrinkle injection wear off, the muscles will gradually regain their strength, and wrinkles and lines will begin to reappear. Therefore, to maintain the results, repeat injections are required every few months. It’s worth noting that the frequency of injections can vary based on factors such as individual metabolism, the dose administered, and the area being treated.
